Our Work From Anywhere Policy & How it Benefits Our Team

As we start to plan our transition out of a COVID world, we’ve taken a hard look at some of our policies and practices we want to keep. 

 

Before COVID, we always had a hybrid working model where employees would come into the office 2-3 days a week and work from home the other days. So when COVID hit, it wasn’t a massive transition to working remotely. We already knew how to work from home, support clients remotely and deliver the same great results. You could say we took to it like a duck takes to water.

Now that we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, we’ve started to plan the future of Copy House and have come to realise some of the benefits remote working provides.

Freedom to Explore

Exploration has always been a big part of what makes us Copy House. Our team comes from a wide range of backgrounds and almost everyone has connections to other countries. Whether it’s our MD with her American roots, an account manager who’s half Polish half South African or our copywriter whose partner lives in Florida, most of us have families and lives outside the UK.

We not only have connections elsewhere, but most of us love travelling and exploring new cultures, places and ways of thinking. Our ability to understand others’ viewpoints, endless curiosity and thirst for knowledge drives takes us to some exciting places both within and outside work.

We encourage our team to continue exploring by supporting them to work from any location and using an out-put based management method so they can work where and when suits them. The golden rule, deliver quality work before the deadline and the rest is up to you.

Our Work From Anywhere Policy

Under our work from anywhere policy, employees can take their work with them when they travel. While everyone still gets their paid leave, this allows them to spend longer outside the UK and achieve a good work-life balance.

We keep to a UK-time zone model as our clients are in the UK or Europe. So regardless of where we go, we still have meetings during regular working hours. Non-client facing work, like content creation, can be done any time before the deadline. So, there may be some early morning calls for people depending on location, but most work can be done at a time that suits.

We don’t cap the amount of time employees can spend outside the UK, but instead, ask that they attend our twice-annual Copy House conference. We spend a full day twice a year working on the business as a team. It’s essential face-to-face time and a good opportunity to step back from the day-to-day routine to reflect on our driving purpose.

Our policy has allowed us to work towards our overarching business goal of “happy team, happy clients.”
