CopyHouse has been selected as finalists for The Drum Agency for Business Award in 2022 and 2021 for the Best Response to Change category.

COVID-19 had a huge global impact as millions of businesses and people were left uncertain about what the future holds. With that, agencies around the world had to re-strategise and adapt to the new way of working. CopyHouse was no different.

Our team used that time as an opportunity to grow and not sit in the shadows by reshaping the business from the ground up and repositioning our services entirely to fit the current climate. As a result, we’ve been able to slingshot our way out of the pandemic by becoming an award-winning technology and FinTech content marketing agency run by a strong and growing team of 22.

Most recently, our efforts have been recognised by The Drum, as CopyHouse has secured a finalist spot second year in a row, at this year’s awards taking place on the 5th December. Read on to take a look at what we did to get here.

CopyHouse’s Journey from a Generalist Agency to a Leading Technology and FinTech Agency

CopyHouse launched in 2019 as a generalist content marketing agency, creating content across various industries, from travel to technology. However, when the pandemic struck, many businesses reduced their marketing budgets, resulting in a significant loss of clients.

To overcome these challenges, the team made the strategic decision to step back, re-evaluate, and prepare CopyHouse for a fresh start. Through extensive market research, they identified the need for specialised content marketing services within the technology and FinTech industries. These sectors often face challenges in communicating complex concepts effectively, creating a gap that CopyHouse was well-suited to fill.

With this clear focus, the team worked tirelessly to reposition the agency. This included updating the website, engaging with their networks, conducting in-depth industry research, developing outreach campaigns, and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients. Their approach was methodical and resilient, balancing strategic growth with flexibility.

To establish CopyHouse’s reputation as a technology content leader, the team took several decisive actions:

  • Redesigned the website and messaging to focus on technology and FinTech.
  • Attended and participated in networking events within these industries.
  • Developed an event programme tailored to the technology sector.
  • Built partnerships with membership organisations focused on tech and marketing.
  • Launched an outreach campaign targeting marketing managers and CMOs in technology, supported by an email lead generation platform.

This concentrated effort in relationship-building and targeted marketing solidified CopyHouse’s position within the technology and FinTech sectors. The result was a steady flow of leads, enabling the company to thrive and grow.

“They [CopyHouse] are very personable, and they’re always there to help out. Even going through the pandemic, they’re still there and helped create free content for us. It was exceptional and outstanding.”

- Mandy Warren, Digital Marketing Manager, 365 Business Finance.

CopyHouse’s Growth

Thanks to the team’s dedication and strategic efforts, CopyHouse experienced remarkable growth during the pandemic. The agency exceeded its expected 60% annual growth rate, achieving an extraordinary 280% annual growth rate in 2020/21. Since its launch in 2019, CopyHouse has grown by an incredible 900%, showcasing the success of its focused and resilient approach.

Advancing Company Culture

Amid the challenges of the pandemic, the CopyHouse team prioritised their core belief: Happy Team, Happy Clients. Determined to support the workforce, no team member was furloughed or let go during this time.

To maintain morale and well-being, CopyHouse introduced an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), giving team members monthly opportunities to speak confidentially with a well-being specialist. Whether discussing personal issues, work concerns, or simply life’s day-to-day ups and downs, this initiative encouraged employees to prioritise their mental health and find balance in a stressful time.

As remote work became the norm, the team also implemented a ‘work from anywhere’ policy, fostering flexibility and promoting a healthy work-life balance. Team members stranded abroad due to travel restrictions were equipped with everything they needed to work effectively from their current locations. By focusing on results rather than hours logged or physical presence, CopyHouse enabled employees to deliver their best work while staying connected to their loved ones and communities.

Both the EAP and the flexible working policies proved so successful that they became permanent aspects of the company’s culture. Today, CopyHouse employees continue to benefit from the freedom to work from anywhere, travel, and stay inspired, all while maintaining strong personal and professional lives.

Staying Connected

Recognising the importance of team connection during a time of isolation, CopyHouse introduced regular virtual meetups. These gatherings provided a chance to take a break, have fun, and maintain a sense of camaraderie. Even now, these virtual meetups remain part of CopyHouse’s culture, complemented by quarterly in-person events that strengthen bonds and celebrate shared successes.

Rising Above Challenges

CopyHouse’s impressive growth didn’t happen overnight. It was the result of hard work, adaptability, and resilience, particularly during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. The team’s extraordinary response to adversity propelled the agency to the forefront of the tech and FinTech content marketing space.

As CopyHouse continues its rapid expansion, the team looks back with pride, knowing their collective efforts have shaped the thriving company it is today.

We seek to break down boundaries and create a world where deep tech isn’t scary or confusing.
